In the midst of a busy New York Fashion Week, Aamito Lagum recently sparked controversy on Instagram when Lagum’s lips were subject to harsh criticism. The New York Times reports, when MAC Cosmetics posted a backstage beauty shot from Ohne Titel of Lagum, anonymous Internet trolls took the stage by posting offensive, racist remarks. Mac Cosmetics and Ohne Titel have both since rallied their support for Lagum. Meanwhile, Lagum started a Social Media initiative called “#PrettyLipsPeriod,” which urges everyone to post photos of their lips to emphasize the importance of inclusive beauty. And since New York Fashion Week how is Lagum doing? The ascending talent recently walked Burberry in London and now has moved to Milan to storm the runways.
